The company I work for offers both st and lt disability thru cigna. My st disability claim was delayed by them, and rather then argue with them, i sbmitted a punitive claim against them and also notified the dept of insurance. As far as my lt disability, they have already advised mr that these claims would be delayed at least 45 days. This is alledgedly based on there contract with my employer and their standerd operating procedures. (sop). There sop is in direct conflict with all states fair claims laws. If you are not receiving your benefits in a timely manner, notify your states department of insurance and submit a claim to cigna for punitive damages, Punitive damages are payments over and above the contracted amount.
