I AM A MENTAL HEALTH PROVIDER ON CIGNA PANEL. I HAVE NOT HAD ONE CLAIM THAT WAS NOT PROBLEMATIC.

I DO BELIEVE THEY MAKE IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET REIMBURSEMENT UNLESS YOU PROCESS THE CLAIM ELECTRONICALLY. FIRST THEY HAVE THE INCORRECT CLAIM ADDRESS, WHEN U CALL IT THERE COMPUTER SYSTEM IS 90% OF THE TIME DOWN "BEING REPAIRED CALL BACK IN 2 HOURS." I HAVE EVEN SENT CLAIMS CERTIFIED. THEY ARE HORRIBLE. EVEN WHEN I SENT EVIDENCE THEY IGNORED IT.

I ONLY TAKE CLIENTS WHO COME TO ME THRU THEIR EAP OTHERWISE I REFUSE TO TAKE CIGNA CLIENTS. I WOULD AVOID THEM AT ALL COST.

Location: Rancho Cordova, California

I paid into Cigna for 15 years and made minimal claims. A few months ago because of a snafu at my bank Cigna autodraw was denied.

I resolved it within a week and paid them. Unknown to me because of one late payment in 15 years Cigna canceled my autodraw, therefore I miss my next payment and they canceled my policy. I found out a couple of months later when I tried to renew a prescription. Called them and they said they could not renew my pre ACA policy and would not sell me any insurance until the next open enrollment.

Therefore I am now uninsured.....

I think they took advantage of the situation to cancel me before I might need medical care. I'm 61.

They cover next to nothing and have a select network of care providers and even with those in network providers they cover next to nothing.

New to Cigna, and wished I was back with Kaiser - very difficult to manage my vision care. As I write, I'm currently on hold.

I had to contact Cigna 4 times prior (this is my 5th call, and I'm on my third person). Now, I get my vision coverage sucks, and my company only pays for the eye exam, but my optometrist has been trying to get pre-authorization for a week, thus my many calls. Seems like there's a disconnect with Cigna Medical and Cigna Vision. I get the difference between the two, but my benefits card gives me a number, and when I call it, they have no idea what I'm speaking about.

This is extremely frustrating. Been on this last call going on 27 minutes.

Do whatever you can to avoid trusting Cigna with your healthcare.

Thankfully I have never needed to file a major claim with them! If you'd like a taste of their attitude toward us, the lowly Cigna insured, try calling customer service and speaking with a representative about a minor billing issue.

It will, in all likelihood, be an exercise in frustration.

The company simply doesn't do what they say they will, nor do they respond to issues which won't benefit them.

In my case, I cancelled a Cigna individual healthcare policy, as they instructed me to, within the given timeframe...and I did so both over the phone and via two certified letters with return receipt.

Any guesses as to what's happening now, two months after the policy should have been cancelled? I'm still receiving bills, and Cigna insists that the policy was never cancelled.

I can only imagine how surly Cigna must be when a serious and expensive claim is filed. As I said, I'm thankful that I have not needed to work with them beyond billing, and even more so that I now once again have quality healthcare through my employer.

My comment is not a "hate vent." Yes, I'm frustrated, but not upset or angry. The overbilling amounts to less than $1,000, which is not insignificant, but is a pittance compared to how quickly medical costs can mount. The reason I'm compelled to write is that I would hate to see anyone place their trust in such a company, then become vulnerable to their manipulation. I shudder to think how truly awful it would have been if I had become ill during that vulnerable year when Cigna was my health insurance provider.

Cigna is not a quality company and should be avoided if at all possible. Use the healthcare exchange if you must, and in any case don't choose Cigna.

Don't allow Cigna to take your money and then abandon you when you need them most. I wish you all health and quality healthcare.

So, if anyone has the opportunity to join up with Cigna health or dental, think again. I have two policies on myself.

TWO. One through the state of Wyoming (primary) and then a secondary policy through my husbands company. Get this, out of these two policies, they have denied 100% of my claims. They have denied payment for two visits and two different policies on me.

I'm not going down without a fight and I'm starting on facebook.

Internet reputation management may come in handy. I'm livid.

A perfect example of why we need to kill for profit insurance companies and replace them with a combination of mutual insurers and medicaid.

I have carpal tunnel nerve compression in both hands. I was scheduled for surgery on my left hand, but had to cancel because I did not have the $800 deductible lying around.

last year, after the CIGNA CEO awarded himself an $8 million bonus on top of his $2 million salary, promised he would earn a $12 million bonus this year. Must be nice.

In the last two or three years, CIGNA has almost doubled my premiums, to just under $400 per month (my employer kick in about 1400/mo). I have zero choice in selecting an insurance company,

I heard a comedian a few years ago say that insurance was a racket invented by organized crime (U pay us da money, or we breaka U face") .

The current for-profit health care system differs from organized crime only in the fact that they buy the politicians that legalized their actions.

I'm on cigna for sort term disability and they are only paying me 50.00 a week what the he'll is that gonna do? Especially when you are used to making close to 600 dollars a week!

Cigna will NEVER pay for prescriptions you really need if they are not generic. I've had 5 surgeries, needing a medication that is not generic to prevent another surgery - and cigna will not pay for it.

Claiming there are other generic medications to replace it. Those generics they are talking about require enemas, which I am prohibited to due to all the previous surgeries.

DON'T EVER TAKE ON CIGNA AS YOUR PROVIDER - THEY NOT ONLY SUCK BUT THEY DON'T CARE ONE IODA ABOUT YOUR HEALTHCARE. They are are BILLION $ company and that's all they care about - not you.

On every claim for therapy Cigna substitutes the name of therapist who is NOT on the Cigna network and refuses to pay. Of course, the psychologist who submitted the claim IS in the network.

My dentist was denied payment for the buil-up on a crown for over $200. Dentist's office said Cigna has lied about returned phone calls.

A family member with MS has been denied an MRI of the spine even though it's needed.

I'm more than pissed; I'm ready to take them to the JCAHO. Denial of care is a very serious issue. Also, these issues need to be pursued as criminal actions.

So what can we do? The changed codes on bills and refuse to cover services ordered by my dds and covered by my plan. fraud isnโ€™t it to change codes to something the service is not?

After several years of disability payments for an incurable disease, CIGNA offered me a lump sum payment for pennies on the dollar. If I accepted then taxes would eat it up and I'd be worse off.

I was told in the letter that I did not need to accept so I didn't acknowledge the offer.

I had problems with CIGNA many years ago and needed a lawyer to get things right. And something tells me dealing with them in any way other than cashing my benefits check is not a thing I want to do.

Now comes another note reminding me of the offer. With a veiled threat which makes me think if I don't accept their offer the next letter will be a denial of benefits.

Guess it's time to lawyer up again.
