In mid-January of 2012, I began to suffer with chronic C-Diff infection. I am a teacher and cannot just run out of my classroom every time this issue hits. I would be running out 10 - 12 times a day and the embarrassment of having an accident in front of high school kids. Early February went into the hospital and would need a twenty-one day stay along with surgical procedures which would require me to stay out of work for six weeks.
Filed my disability claim with Cigna short term disability on February 15, 2012. This started a series of paperwork nightmares. My doctors faxed medical records sometimes 3 - 4 times a day and Cigna Short Term Disability would NEVER receive this paperwork. It is now March 16th and they are still not paying my claim. I am home recovering and unable to work. Need to pay my bills and have no money coming in and am on food stamps!
I have had to now pay doctors to submit the paperwork because they are sick of Cigna claiming they never receive it. Apparently their fax machines never work and their customer service sucks! When I call my claim agent, she told me that having "tummy trouble" was not considered a diagnosis. I had surgery and am battling C-Diff and am sick all the time and have lost 76 pounds in six weeks due to this problem and they don't care!
I have paid for my STD benefits for the past seven years and never missed a payment. I collected once after a car accident for only three months and went back to work. This claim would probably be about the same short amount of time, so I am not abusing the system, I am just asking for my STD to do what I pay for!
Cigna STD FAILS! Their customer service sucks! They do not care about serving their customers at all!
